Well, not exactly but there are several ways of getting to us here in Bracklesham Bay and they don’t all have to be by car. Did you know there is a cycle route which takes you almost to our door, or you can hop on a bus. We get loads of visitors from Chichester so if you are coming with a group of friends and want to make the most of a pint or two of local craft ale from Goldmark Brewery then a bus could be the answer. The number 52 has a stop just the other side of Beech Avenue in Bracklesham lane – a few minutes’ walk to us. From the centre of Chichester, the ride takes just 30 minutes. That’s enough time to watch a rerun episode of Friends on your iPod, catch up with a mate on the phone, or check the weather forecast and plan a walk along Bracklesham beach. Then, there would still be time to check our menu online and deliberate over the delicious dishes that you hope to enjoy once you get here.
Of course, if you need a bit more time, then the number 53 takes a more circuitous route from Chichester, taking in East and then West Wittering before arriving at the same bus stop, albeit a 40-minute journey instead of half an hour.
How do we know all this? Well, the wonderful people at West Sussex County Council have created a journey planner which means wherever you are in the county, if you own a car or not, you can still enjoy a morning or afternoon here in Bracklesham Bay. It’s easy to use, gives step by step pointers on how to reach us, and all you need to do is type in your location and destination – Billy’s on the Beach, Bracklesham Lane. Then it will give you several options of walking, cycling, driving, or going by bus to get here. You can even car share from the centre of Chichester, just spot the four locations for the Co-wheels Car Club highlighted on the interactive map – so no excuses!
If you decide to walk or cycle here, you will be rewarded with a smiley face next to your planned journey for not generating CO2 emissions and for burning loads of calories. So, if you’re setting off from West Street in Chichester to walk the two hours and 25 minutes to Billy’s, you will burn off an average 550 calories. That means you will be able to tuck into our famous beer battered fish and chips with a halo hovering over your head.
*Plan your journey to us by visiting the journey planner. And don’t forget to share your journey via Facebook or Twitter – there is even a button for doing that too.
