About Billy’s on the Beach

Welcome to Billy's

Service. Consistency. Value.

Billy has been in the food and wine business for 30 years. She has cooked and grilled, roasted and baked, serving in restaurants all over the world. She is now running her own café/restaurant – Billy’s on the Road, on the A29 just north of Billingshurst, and now her sister restaurant Billy’s on the Beach has been open for a year or so. Chef Richard runs the kitchen and all dishes are freshly prepared. Fritto Misto is his speciality and local grilled fish.

Food, Glorious Food

Share in Billy’s passion for hospitality

Fish & Chips, Breakfasts & Brunches, Billy’s Burgers, Soups & Salads, Cheesy Toasties, proper Ice Cream sundaes, and Daily Specials from Scallops to Moules Frites – if it’s in season we will prepare it and cook it for you.

Cakes, British Puds and Home made scones. We know you will find a favourite on our menu.

We are really proud of our coffee, specially roasted for Billy’s, teas, wicked hot chocolates and local beers. We have an easy wine list served by the glass and bottle to compliment your food. Our wine list of red white rose & fizz has been chosen by Billy who loves her wine and looks forward to you enjoying her selection.

You can also book Private Parties. Just phone Brett or Minty to talk about what we can do for you.

Quality time at Billy's

FREE WiFi and great coffee

If you are a local then Billy’s is the place for  breakfast & brunches, a mid morning coffee, lunch, tea and cake or weekends dinners with loads of easy parking.

To compete with Billy’s on the Road Hornby Train Set we have a Princess Flying Boat soaring in the rafters. Worth a visit just to see her – not to mention the views of the Isle of Wight, and the Eastern Approaches to the Solent where the shipping lanes are always busy with freighters, tankers and cruise ships.

Dedicated to our customers

Your satisfaction is important to us

As a young business, we are always open to suggestions, criticisms and needs from all our customers and you are fully welcome to add your comments which we will always endeavour to address – we can’t please everyone but we will try.

Our Plastics Policy

We are committed to protecting the environment

Here at Billy’s we are committed to reducing single-use plastic waste from our café and to encourage our customers to help us in this environmental endeavour.

We have a front row seat to one of the most amazing sea views on the Sussex Coast, and we want to protect that vista, and the marine life that swims in it, for future generations.

In order to do this, we commit to:

  • regularly reviewing our plastics use and set targets for reduction.
  • work closely with our suppliers to continue to reduce or eliminate plastic packaging from all items being delivered to the café.
  • use recycled plastic where practical if the use of plastics is unavoidable.
  • Seek and encourage innovative recycling opportunities for the plastic waste we and our customers produce in our café.

Initiatives carried out to date include:

  • Ensuring all straws are paper not plastic.
  • Rewarding customers 20p off a hot drink if they bring in their own refillable mug.
  • Selling our own Billy’s on the Beach keep cup for takeaway hot drinks.
  • Using recyclable takeaway boxes for food bought from our Billy’s outdoor van.
  • Installing a bespoke recycling unit outside the café for the sole purpose of collecting Billy’s empty hot drink cups.
  • Swapping our tea to fresh leaf pyramid-shaped biodegradable bags.
  • Swapping plastic biros for pencils to write down customer orders.
  • Working with suppliers to reduce packaging in their products. For example, our coffee beans from Edgcumbes of Arundel, are now supplied in reusable containers which they refill, rather than being stored in throwaway plastic drums or cardboard. Our greengrocer now supplies all fruit and vegetables in collectable trays rather than plastic, and our local fishmonger, Something Fishy, has stopped vacuum-packing fish and instead delivers it packed in ice.

All of the team here at Billy’s share the responsibility to reduce single-use plastics in our café and we hope our customers will embrace all initiatives introduced with that aim.
