Beer & Batter Weekend: putting the ‘b’ into October

Here’s a tongue twister for you – Billy’s on the Beach Beer & Batter Weekend in Bracklesham Bay!

Whether you say it fast or slow, make sure you don’t miss this special event, starting on Friday, October 13 until the end of Sunday, October 15, with a celebration of seasonal food, freshly caught fish from the Sussex coast, and local beers.

We’ve teamed up with two of our neighbours to create a special beer and batter menu – local fishmongers, Something Fishy, just two minutes’ drive down the road in East Wittering, and almost-neighbour, Goldmark Brewery, based in Arundel.

As well as Billy’s famous haddock and chips, the feast will include a selection of fresh fish either grilled, pan fried or dipped in variety of herb flours or beer batters – check out our What’s On page for a taster of the menu. We’ll also be offering food pairing notes to help you match some of Goldmark’s award-winning beers and lagers to dishes on our autumn menu.

Our friend Mark Lehmann, the brewer behind Goldmark’s craft beers, has created a special recipe just for the Beer and Batter Weekend called Strawberry Stout, a 4% ABV Belgian-style beer with just a hint of strawberry wine,  which he says will go perfect with Billy’s meat and fish dishes, and can even be drunk with desserts.

The Beer & Batter menu will be available from midday until 8.30pm each day, in addition to our regular autumn menu. If you’d like to book for our Beer & Batter event to avoid disappointment, give us a call on 01243 670373.
